Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ flaunts its 1080p display in live images

Following the footsteps of its C650X Odin relative, it was time for Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ to make an appearance. The upcoming Sony flagship has emerged in live photos, which barely leave anything to one’s imagination.

The Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ will reportedly feature a quad-core CPU (likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro) and 2GB of RAM. The leaked photos all but confirm the presence of a 12MP camera – not the previously leaked 13MP sensor. The device in the photos runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sony’s UI on top.

We are likely to see the Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ break cover alongside the Xperia Odin during CES in January 2013 – much like the Xperia S and Xperia ion did this year in Las Vegas.

Hands On: Amazon wants you to trust it with your photos

Amazon's cloud storage service for photos isn't just for Kindle HD users anymore. The company made its Cloud Drive Photos app available for most Android devices today. Signing in with your Amazon account will net you 5GB of free space for your pictures.

Android phone and tablet users have yet another option for cloud-based storage, though this time it’s specifically for photos. Amazon has made its Cloud Drive Photos app, which is already integrated into the Kindle Fire HD, available on most Android devices. This app looks like a service that will serve constant photo-snappers quite well.

The app initially asks for users to sign in using an Amazon account. You’re going to want to sign up for an account if you don’t already have one, because this app is completely useless if you don’t. The point of a cloud drive service is to save space, not take it up. Once you’re signed in, you’ll be greeted with the app’s home screen, or the “Cloud” tab. This simply explains to you how to access your drive online and add content from your computer that can then be viewed on your phone or tablet.

There is a second tab atop the display in this app called “Photos.” This is where you will actually be able to see the photo content that is currently saved on your device. Your camera roll, screen captures, Draw Something drawings, Instagram images, and all other photographic data is displayed. These are displayed by category, which can then be explored to see what each album holds. Pressing and holding on an album or an individual picture will allow you to manage the selection, prompting you to either remove it from the device or upload it to the cloud. These are very contrary choices, so make sure you select the one you want. The app also doesn’t appear to automatically sync and there is no option to do so in the settings, so you’ll have to manually update your sync after every snapshot, making this app annoyingly out of date compared to options from Google+ and others.

All users of Amazon’s Cloud Drive Photos get 5GB of free storage. That can be upgraded to 20GB of space for $10 a year. Everything you upload is accessible right from your Amazon account, making it easy to manage from your phone or your computer. The app isn’t exactly feature rich, but it does the job it claims. An auto-sync feature would be nice, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until the next update to see if it’s there.

you can download the Amazon Cloud Drive Photos app on the Google Play store or Amazon’s Appstore.

Google's upcoming Nexus 10 tablet leaks out in live images

Google's upcoming Nexus 10 slate has leaked out in live photos, confirming previous rumors for the Samsung made tablet. Set to be officially unveiled on Monday, the device packs impressive specifications, headed by a stunning 10.1" display with a iPad beating resolution of 2560x1600 pixels and a pixel density of 298.9ppi.

The Google Nexus 10 will feature a brand new dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 chipset, whose Cortex-A15 cores run at 1.7GHz. The new silicon is reportedly faring better in benchmark scores than the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro. The Mali -T604 GPU is also brand new - it should be able to handle the massive amount of pixels with ease. Two gigs of RAM, 16GB of non-expandable built-in memory (other options will likely be available), 5MP camera (you can check out its samples here) with front-facing companion, and full connectivity suite are also on board.

The back of the slate appears to be made of metal, while the dual-speakers at its front remind us of its Samsung roots. The tablet is said to be remarkably thin for its size.

The Google Nexus 10 will launch with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which will bring a number of improvements to the OS. They include improved camera UI, support for multiple user accounts, as well as quick settings bar.

The Google Nexus 10 will break cover at a Google event in New York City on Monday, October 10. We will be there live, so be sure to stick around for the full scoop on everything Android.

Huawei Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 handset images appear online

Huawei Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 handset images appear online
HTC may have a word with Huawei

The Huawei Ascend W1 has apparently been leaked in photos, sporting a design which may look familiar to some HTC owners.

Of all the initial Windows Phone 8 handsets set to launch alongside the new mobile platform at the end of the month, the Huawei Ascend W1 is the one we know least about.

We've already heard all about the HTC 8X, HTC 8S, Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and to a slightly lesser extent, the Samsung Ativ S, but the Chinese firm has held back information on its offering.

One X clone?

Now images have appeared on Chinese site Blog of Mobile, showing a fetching blue handset, which sports a very similar camera layout to the HTC One X round the back.

Huawei Ascend W1 - LEAK

On the front there's a slightly more original design, with a small lip at the bottom of the handset giving you a flash of the blue case in the sea of black glass which greets you.

The Ascend W1 will reportedly pack a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5MP rear camera, VGA front snapper and a 2,000mAh battery – so not really a One X, or even One S contender.

According to a report yesterday, the Huawei Ascend W1 could land for around $300-$350 (£185-215/AU$290-340), making it the cheapest of the Windows Phone 8 pack.

Lazy NYC restaurant wants you to help create its menu with Instagram

ComodoMenu Instagram

A downtown New York restaurant is asking patrons to upload photos of their meals to Instagram to help craft a visual menu for undecided diners and those interested in trying out the establishment. The inventive idea is fun and interactive, but it's hard for us to encourage people to keep taking photos of their food and uploading it to the Web.

Full disclosure: My family owns a restaurant in New York City and the cost of designing, printing, and distributing menus are a lot more than just clicking a few things on the Internet and waiting for things to ship. You have to pick a design that is functional, beautiful, representative of your facility, and most importantly, inviting. Then, it’s just a matter of hoping new customers are curious and kind enough to stop by, and luring them to come back for a delicious experience. So when I heard that a new Latin American restaurant opened up and is crowdsourcing its patrons to make its menu for them, I can’t tell if this is sheer cost-cutting laziness or pure genius.

Comodo, located in the SoHo neighborhood of downtown New York, came up with the idea when it noticed the food porn Instagram trends amongst its customers. You’ve likely seen this happen: People come in, get excited by the food they’ve ordered, and take artsy shots of the plate so their Instagram followers can be presumably jealous by what these guys are having for dinner. Comodo also realized this was a good way for the public to get a relatively accurate representation of the restaurant, so it start encouraging patrons to continue doing what they’re doing, then adding the hashtag #ComodoMenu to the photos.

The result? Ideally, a list of menu items, the names, what they look like, and the price. This is helpful for people considering trying the restaurant, but wants to know the price points, portion sizes, and an exact visual of what they should expect. Of course, this isn’t the only source of menu for Comodo; the restaurant has real physical ones as well for those who aren’t on Instagram.

So far, the hashtag and three-week-old restaurant has garnered 49 photos, but unfortunately, not all the photos are food from the restaurant, and most people forget to mention what the dish is called or how much it costs. Still, the idea is inventive and interactive, and it’s a cheap and easy way to create social buzz. The photos also help to show what menu items are popular judging by how often they show up under the hashtag, and can then be referred to as one of the recommended dishes at Comodo.

At the same time, us Digital Trends writers aren’t particularly thrilled with the whole food porn trend, so we’re pretty torn on encouraging other restaurants to follow suit. Hey, at least if you’re gonna do it, do it with a purpose and help a local business along the way. And businesses, if you’re gonna hop on the trend, you might want to provide some incentives for the patrons giving you free publicity! If it’s anything we can help promote, it’s symbiosis.

The best pics of the LG Nexus phone so far show all the details

Beside the high-quality photos there is not much new information about the LG Nexus phone. Still, we get its model name - the LG E960 - and a codename - the Mako.

We'd say that if it really turns out to be this year's Nexus device (something our fellow tech journalists are not quite sure), it makes all the sense in the world to be called the Google Optimus Nexus, right?

The pre-production phone these guys have runs currently the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2.

On the front, there's a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 768x1280px. On the back, there's a 8 megapixel camera.

The LG (Optimus) Nexus phone

The real disappointment is on the inside. Despite the presence of the powerful quad-core Qualcomm chipset with 2GB of RAM, the built-in storage is only 8GB and there's no card slot for expansion.

Judging on the limited storage, LG wouldn't like it for their Optimus Nexus phone to compete with their other flagships. It's much like how Samsung supplied a measly 5 megapixel camera on their Galaxy Nexus.

As things are shaping right now, the Optimus Nexus won't be a customer-oriented multimedia consumption device.

Anyway, check out some more shots at the source link below.

Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon emerges in live photos

Following the press photo leak from a couple of days back, the Verizon bound Nokia smartphone has emerged in live photos. Dubbed Nokia Lumia 822, the Windows Phone 8 smartphone is (just like the Nokia Lumia 810) yet another carrier specific version of the Lumia 820.

The specs of the Nokia Lumia 822 are quite similar to the 820's, save for the presence of Verizon 4G LTE bands and the matte finish. They include a dual-core CPU, WVGA display, and 8MP camera.

The Nokia Lumia 822 is expected to go official for Verizon any day now, so we'll be sure to keep a close eye on it.

iPhone 5 cases appear in AT&T’s internal system

Just a bit over a week away from the official iPhone 5 announcement, photos of cases accompanying the device are already appearing on AT&T.

Ahead of the September 12 announcement of the Apple’s iPhone 5, Boy Genius Report has posted a few photos of what looks to be the latest cases for the upcoming device. Jonathan S. Gelle writes that the site’s AT&T source sent over images that were found in AT&T’s internal system — showing off an approximate dimension of the new iPhone and its accompanying screen protector.

If the images are an accurate depiction of the iPhone 5, then all the rumored reports and leaked images of the new device are relatively point-on: The phone features a slimmer, longer body and in comparison to a mock-up credit card, the screen is just a tad wider than the plastic. The front-facing camera is also located dead center of the device rather than the iPhone 4′s slight shift to the side.

There have been a few rumored iPhone 5 cases spotted in the past, but coming from AT&T internal system seems more credible than previous photos. While this is no confirmation for the specs that we’ve previously reported, it’s a good indication of what’s to come in the physical sense — and as a case reviewer myself, I’m already liking the wallet-like design available for the iPhone 5. Check out these photos below, thanks to BGR.
