Sony Xperia D5103 with 720p screen hits GFX Bench database

A mid-range Sony Xperia smartphone snuck in the GFX Bench database. The D5103 features specs similar, but better than the Moto G. The chipset is listed as Snapdragon 400 MSM8226, the same as the Moto G, but there are differences.

The chipset has four Cortwex-A7 cores at 1.4GHz (200MHz faster than in the Motorola) and Adreno 305 graphics, which has proven great for the 720p screen resolution. There's no info on the screen size though.

The Sony Xperia D5103 was running Android 4.4.1 KitKat when it did the test, with the software fingerprint revealing the build is quite recent – January 27.

Judging by the 3 in the model number, the Xperia D5103 will have LTE connectivity, another victory over the Moto G.

Nokia Lumia 810 and 822 to miss on the Lumia Black update

We have some pretty awful news about T-Mobile and Verizon subscribers who have a Lumia 810 or 822. Apparently Nokia has completed the Lumia Black firmware update for the Lumia 810 and Lumia 822, but the carriers won't push it to the users.

This info comes from a chat with Nokia's Customer support, so it's not like is fully official just yet. According to the user's chat with the Nokia representative, the update is not happening and Verizon is only listing it as Coming Soon, just to avoid angry users' rant.

There is no official reason for not releasing an update that has been finished. Perhaps it's something that doesn't fit within the carrier's approval process. But whatever the reasons, the question "what happens next" will be here all the way to April, when the Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to go official.

Will the Lumia 810 and 822 be left stuck on Amber forever? Will they merly skip GDR3 + Lumia Black update and move straight to WP8.1? We are yet to find out.

Note that the international Lumia 820 is getting the Lumia Black update as planned.

The user also points out Nokia is throwing a free Purity Pro headset for those having Bluetooth issues with the Lumia 810 or 822. So, you might want to check with Nokia's customer support if you have the same problems and see if you qualify for a free headset.

LG G Pro 2 launched with camera tricks and 'knock to unlock'

LG G Pro 2 launched with camera tricks and 'knock to unlock'
Is this the phablet for you?

We all knew it was coming. Hell, even LG had revealed details of its upcoming phablet on its own website, but now the LG G Pro 2 has now been officially launched.

The LG G Pro 2 succeeds last year's G Pro, bringing with it a larger 5.9-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080), the same 2.26GHz quad-core processor you'll find in the LG G2, 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of storage and the addition of a microSD slot.

These specs put the G Pro 2 up there with the top phablets around, and the likes of the Galaxy Note 3, One Max and Xperia Z Ultra now have a new contender to worry about.

Snap happy

Round the back the G Pro 2 sports a 13MP camera with OIS+ technology, and LG has stuffed in some nifty tricks for you to enjoy.

You'll be able to record video as 120fps, allowing for one-half slow motion, one-fourth slow motion and original speed playback, plus there's the option to record in Ultra HD, 4K - much like the Galaxy Note 3.

LG G Pro 2

The G Pro 2 also features "magic focus", allowing you to choose the depth of focus after you've taken an image - something we saw Qualcomm show off during its Uplinq conference in 2013.

Jumping on the selfie bandwagon the G Pro 2 uses less of the screen to show your ugly mug when in front camera (2.1MP lens) mode, providing a white glow to bring out all your best features.

LG has further developed its "Knock on" screen wake function, with the G Pro 2 allowing you to tap out a little sequence to unlock your handset.

There's good news when it comes to the operating system with the latest flavour of Google's platform on board - Android 4.4 KitKat - and of course LG has overlaid this with its own UI.

LG G Pro 2

A 3200mAh is in charge of keeping you going throughout the day, while 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC will keep you connected.

Unfortunately though the press release states that the G Pro 2 has only been introduced to the Korean market, while "availability of G Pro 2 in markets outside of Korea has not yet been determined."

The handset will be at MWC 2014 however, and so too will TechRadar, so keep an eye out for our hands on LG G Pro 2 review in the coming weeks.

The iPhone 6 alleged pictures storming the internet are fake

A bunch of authentic looking photos of an alleged Apple iPhone 6 prototype have invaded the internet in just a few hours. They make the rounds on various websites, forums and social networks.

The alleged iPhone 6 photos

Those pictures looked real with all those smudges, bad focus and blurry quality, but yet believable design. But we live in a digital era, and as many other things today, these iPhone 6 photos were proved to be fake too.

Here is a proof those are fake (click to expand)

Apparently those were created by Martin Hajek, a gifted designer, whose renders looks like the real deal. What gave these away is that his "prototypes" use an identical smudge texture. Check the pictures below.

So, this isn't the iPhone 6. The final thing might actually look something along this way, who knows, but for now, all we we have is a bunch of fanboy renders. We enjoyed them nonetheless.
