Unlocked Sony Xperia acro S hits US for $600

Sony has released the Xperia acro S in the U.S. as an unlocked phone.

The durable, but pretty, Sony Xperia acro S is now available in the U.S. in Sony Stores and selected online retailers for $600 unlocked. This Android 4.0 device has a 4.3-inch HD “Reality” display (LCD) with a 720p resolution, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, and an impressive 12.1-megapixel camera. It is also tougher than your average premium Android smartphone with a scratch-resistant screen and a high level of water resistance.

Outdoors types often have to settle for lower end smartphones when it comes to specs so the Xperia acro S should turn a few heads. Additional features include HD video recording and chat, HDMI out, NFC support, 16GB memory, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, assisted GPS, and Bluetooth. So what’s missing? Well, there’s no support for 4G LTE.

The IP55 and IP57 ratings mean you don’t need to worry about dust and if you drop your phone in a puddle you’ll be able to pick it up, wipe it off, and keep right on trucking.

It is available in black or white and has a decent-sized battery, rated at 1910mAh, so it should last a full day in the great outdoors between charges, we hope.
