Rejoice, big-handed folk, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now available on Verizon

After a long wait, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now available on Verizon Wireless. It costs $300 with a two-year contract.

The wait is finally over for Verizon subscribers. Beginning today, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 is available on Verizon’s network. It costs $300 with a two-year contract. Those who prefer to go off-contract have to pay $700. The 5.5-inch “phablet” device has been available for pre-order for a while now, with Verizon’s official website guaranteeing that shipments had started on Nov. 27.

Like the other carriers offering Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2, Verizon users can buy the handsets in either Marble White or Titanium Gray. The only major difference that will distinguish Verizon’s version is that the wireless carrier has insisted on having its logo etched into the Home button on the front of the phone. The Home button is blank on every other model of the Note 2.

Although the Galaxy Note 2 didn’t come to U.S. retailers until October, Samsung has already managed to break the five million sales mark. The company reported this news on Monday, just a few weeks after Samsung had said that it sold three million units of its newest “phablet” device.

This is the first time Verizon will be offering any Galaxy Note device for its customers. The original Galaxy Note, which debuted in February 2012, was only made available on AT&T’s network. T-Mobile was the first carrier in the U.S. to begin offering the Galaxy Note successor at the end of October, and since then, Sprint, AT&T, and US Cellular have since followed suit. Samsung could be following in the footsteps of its widely successful Galaxy S3, which was released on all five major U.S. carriers following its launch.

Users can also expect to get Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box with the Galaxy Note 2, along with intuitive features such as the S Pen’s Air View, which can expand an entire file library for quick viewing. The Galaxy Note successor also comes equipped with 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded via an SD card slot.
