Alleged live image and front panel of Xperia Z1 mini leak

After the Sony Xperia Z1 (a.k.a. Honami) made the big splash at IFA 2013, it's now time to get back to the business of rumoring the mini version of the water resistant smartphone by Sony.

In keeping with previous Xperia Z1 mini leaks, come two images suggesting the handset is indeed in the making. The first one is of an alleged Xperia Z1 mini pictured lying on its front next to two Xperia Z1s. The other image is of what looks to be a front panel of the rumored mini device.

Sony Xperia Z1 mini alleged pictures

Since there's no official word from Sony, we have no way of knowing if the two images can be taken at face value.

Along with the images we get a sneak peak at some of the specs as well. Proceed with caution as these could turn out to be nothing more than speculations, too. The Xperia Z1 mini is said to bring a 720p 4.3" screen (like the HTC One mini), carry 2 gigs of RAM to accompany the quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (it already gets doubtful), 8 GB of internal memory, Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and the same 20.7 MP camera as the Xperia Z1 (highly improbable, if you ask us). The Z1 mini is also rumored to make its official appearance at CES 2014 in Las Vegas this January.

The Q1 unveiling is another easy to doubt fact as that would put the Xperia Z1 mini far behind the HTC One mini and Galaxy S4 mini in terms of market availability. Also, we couldn't help but raise our proverbial eyebrows at the claim that the Xperia Z1 mini will be carrying the same 20MP camera as its bigger counterpart. Finally, the top-end Snapdragon 800 is another unlikely feature, given that all smartphone minis thus far have opted for cheaper, lower-grade processors than their bigger brethren - something like a Snapdragon 600 or 400 seems likelier.

Thanks, Ritwik and Anurag for sending this in!
