HTC Desire X: When will you get it?

HTC Desire X: When will you get it?

Want it, need it, Desire X it

The HTC Desire X is hot property after its IFA 2012 debut, so when will you get your hands on it and how much will it set you back?

You can pick the HTC Desire X up in black or white - not overly compelling choices, but as we found out in our hands on review, there's a range of colourful covers which you can stick on it.

We've been hunting down the UK networks and retailers to find out what the deal is.

Phones4U – the retailer was first past the post with HTC Desire X UK pricing, promising the handset alone for free on a £20.50 a month tariff - and true to its word that's exactly what it offers, although only on Orange.

If you fancy getting the Desire X on Vodafone or T-Mobile you'll need to shell out a whole 50p more per month, while O2 is asking for a giddy £21.50 each month if you want a free handset.

Phones4U has the exclusive on the white edition of the Desire X, and you can also get it bundled with Beats Solo over-ear headphones if you're willing to shell out £26 a month or more.

Carphone Warehouse - Rather oddly, Carphone Warehouse still has the HTC Desire X listed as 'coming soon' on its website, with an expected arrival date of "October 2012" the only guide we have.

We've contacted the high street retailer to find out what's going on here, and we'll update this article once we hear back.

Vodafone – the big red network has confirmed that it will be offering the HTC Desire X but it's keeping price and release date info on the down low for now.

O2 – there's a HTC Desire X page on the O2 website, but the handset is listed as "Coming Soon: October", so watch this space.

We contacted O2 and a spokesperson told us: "The HTC Desire X release date is TBC, but it will be available for free on contract from £21 per month."

EE, Orange and T-Mobile – are keeping their HTC Desire X cards close to their chests, but with Phones4U offering tariffs on both Orange and T-Mobile, we can be pretty sure the handset will be available direct from the networks soon.

The HTC Desire X is unlikely to feature in EE's line-up, as the network is focussed on delivering 4G enabled handsets to consumers.

Three – We're also still waiting to hear from Three, the data-friendly network, about if and when it will be offering the HTC Desire X.

SIM-Free - If you're not a fan of the high street stores, or network-centric deals then a number of online retailers are offering you the chance to grab the HTC Desire X SIM-free.

The cheapest offering from our search is over at Unlocked-Mobiles, where you'll be able to pick the Desire X up for a reasonable £217.98.

Clove (£228) and Expansys (£239.99) also have stock of the device, however they are asking for a little more cash.
